I went to the Silver Blades two or three times a week when I was in my teens.

I remember Harry Stocks once skating up behind me, pushing his head through my legs and lifting me up onto his shoulders then skating across the rink and running into the gent's changing room and toilets and out again. When we came out every was laughing and clapping and I nearly died of embarrassment. After that, I was terrified to go anywhere near him.

Havn't seen either since late 60's. My wife remembers Harry Stocks got a scar over her eye with his antics

In 1968 (ish) the mixed race band "The Equals" stood on the veranda miming to "Baby Come Back"

If you look at it now, it doesn't seem possible but the fotos exist somewhere

I seem to remember being told that my uncle was the or a manager there in the 60's - he looked like Hoss Cartwright out of Ponderosa, he was a BIg guy...and was called Don Green. He and my auntie Hazel held their wedding reception there in the late 60's (maybe 6/7/8?) as I remember we were allowed to go skating on the ice after the public had left ( I was around 6/7 at the time) .
