Single people should be banned from purchasing S/O 1+bed flats at Parkhill

FIRST-time buyers struggling to get on the property ladder in Sheffield are being given help to buy a home at Park Hill through the Government’s shared ownership scheme.

A dozen of the revamped one and two-bedroom apartments are now being made available for shared ownership sale, with prices starting at just over £30,000 for a 35 per cent share or £45,000 for a 50 per cent share.

The shared ownership flats are available through Plumlife, which is part of social housing landlord, Great Places Housing Group.

Single people who purchase a S/O (Shared Ownership) property at Parkhill should be banned from buying 1+bed property.

Only people with a family large enough to occupy all the bedrooms should be allowed to purchase a flat with multiple bedrooms via S/O.

If one purchases a FULL FLAT, one should be free to purchase a flat of any size you want.

Anybody who has purchased a S/O property with more bedrooms than they need should get a reduced rate of both SMI and housing benefit if they ever become unemployed.

I'll give it 20 years before the flats are full of drug addicts and reverts to a ghetto once again. It ought to have been flattened 20 years ago, its an eyesore.

Dont agree one bit

The government should not be subsidising people to buy a share of an interest in fee simple of a property with more bedrooms than they need.

Government sponsered shared ownership should only allow people to buy an interest in fee simple of properties large enough for their needs.

Get over it. Why not buy one yourself :)

Its not a form of benefit. You stump up half the cash, the government stumps up the other half. You both own an equal share and when you sell it you both profit from it. Its nothing to do with any form of benefit so shut up

Why's that then?

Who on earth is going to buy them? I wouldn't risk my capital on one of those flats, I think many of the people who come from Sheffield would agree?

If the government does not subsidise people to rent a property larger than they need, neither should it subsidise people to purchase a property larger than they need.

The government only subsidises on rent when you require the help or in some cases please Mr council man pay my council tax because i cant be bothered to get a job! whereas people who OWN!! the houses will still be paying full council tax and arent being subsidised by any government body. The government are BUYING the 2nd half to the property. not a subsidy!!

Are you mentally challenged?

The two are very different things.
