freeman78 Â Â 10 #3 Posted October 12, 2012 you need to be a bit more clearer but your employer may be on a pay per mile insurance, there is a few firms doing this because its cheeper for them
 Share this content via...
cbr900 Â Â 10 #4 Posted October 12, 2012 No , I know an employer doesn't have to pay for travel time under normal circumstances . What I'm asking is to do with having trackers fitted to vans . I know that you have to inform the driver that it has a tracker , but have been told you also have to pay a minimum of one hour of the travel , but can't find this anywhere . DT Ralge   10 #6 Posted October 12, 2012 Have never come across a need to pay for travelling time with or without a tracker. Could have been introduced somewhere as a sweetener, though.
 Share this content via...
dongle   10 #7 Posted October 12, 2012 Never heard of this before. It's must be down to each employer to decide, why would you want to pay somebody an extra hour for nothing?
 Share this content via...

cbr900 Â Â 10 #10 Posted October 13, 2012 if you are going to track a vehicle you have to tell the driver as part of the data protection act . That is not in question and not what i'm asking . I need to know about any payments linked to trackers ( if they exist )
 Share this content via...
dongle   10 #11 Posted October 13, 2012 as far as im aware you don't have to pay staff any extra due to trackers been fitted, most taxis, buses, coaches and parcel delivery companies ect are fitting trackers to there vehicles, so i cant see why there would be a need for extra payments if trackers are fitted. willman   10 #12 Posted October 13, 2012 (edited) There are no "laws" re trackers - i know i've just jacked a job in because of them. The TUC advise they can't be used to monitor performance of the driver - especially sales performance, but it isn't law. The only things you can lawfully complain about is data Protection - what info they store, where and for how long, this can be requested. My ex employer activated had them live 24/7 but only actually had info for movements between 6.30a.m and 7pm. I used to keep a diary log of anything i did outside 9 and 5.30,my contract was for those times but they always referred to stuff i did outside those hours and requested i explain what i was upto. This included visits to the post office on work business, filling up with fuel etc. I also refused to do any "business" work within the 7pm and 6.30a.m private time as we were charged mileage for any journeys in that period.
