Dan_Ashcroft   10 #49 Posted December 28, 2013 None really "like HMV". But to this list you can add Rare and Racy on Division Street. Apart from HMV and generalists like supermarkets and WH Smiths, the only places selling records/CDs these days are small specialists like the above.  ---------- Post added 28-12-2013 at 08:37 ----------   There did. HMV apart, been and gone include Virgin/Zavvi, Our Price, Andy's Records, Fopp/Music Zone among others. It's been a bloodbath, and that's just the chains.  Better than HMV then  Indie record shops are definitely on the rise again. There are 3 times as many now as there were at the end of the 2003-8 crash.  Supermarkets sell cds for housewives. Kids download from Piratebay. And music lovers buy from high-end indie shops like the 6/7 listed.
 Share this content via...

Bilge   34 #54 Posted June 27, 2014 What's this place like? I haven't had chance to visit yet but I will soon. It looks good judging from a quick glance as I've gone past.
 Share this content via...
Alcoblog   10 #55 Posted June 27, 2014 A few more shops like this (and Chris Beech) and Walkley will develop into a place that outshines even Crookes as the epicentre of all things good ... let's just hope that the 'charidee' shops don't cotton on and debase the place like they have done up here (Crookes). From a butchers being tagged onto a not so good general store they've expanded and hopefully prospered. For them the threat of ASDA was more a challenge than a concern and they've gone from being a small butcher in part of a store to a full blown butcher/grocer/deli/off-license employing more staff than ever before and supporting other local businesses.
