Moving to Derbyshire

Recommended Posts

I think what Jeffrey meant was that it gets cut off quite regularly during adverse weather, like snow, which it is prone to because of it's geography!

Cut off from what? Sheffield!!!!

Don't you mean the thousands of folk who escape from Sheffield into Derbyshire each weekend are cut off from civilization and forced to live in the ghetto?.

What do you imagine Derbyshire is like; the little house on the prairie?

Perhaps another phrase might be better "Isolated" ;)

How about self sufficient?

Its a damned site easier to get to Manchester from Chapel than it is from Sheffield, and I'd rather go shopping in Manchester than Sheffield any day of the week.

Depends what you are wanting though but there are better places in Derbyshire than Buxton!

Thanks everyone for all the replies. So far it is not looking good about the areas.

What areas would you suggest around there?

It depends how much money you have.

Bakewell. Ashford and Baslow are very nice if you have the cash.

Try Matlock, Darley Dale, Two Dales ...

Buxton is COLD .. even in summer. I know, I went to Catering College there ...

Well what are you looking for?

Sorry I don't get on here much.

Max would be around £800pcm. The reason for the move is that my friend has a new job and has to live within a certain amount of miles and Sheffield is too far. So those areas are in the radios and aren't too far from Sheffield.

Think Matlock is just a bit too far :(

I may have lost my virginity in Buxton. But thankfully I didn't.

I doubt anyone would have handed it in if they'd found it.

It is one of the coldest, wettest towns in Britain.

Zero's description is spot on.

Don't go there. Go south and west from there instead - Chelmorton is near but isn't nearly as bad.

Where is the job?

From Buxton then Bakewell is about 10 miles away. Matlock about 17.

For £800 there are a couple of places in Bakewell however its does not have a great night life, should that be important. Matlock is better, just!

Thats why I asked what your friends are looking for? Just somewhere close to work or something with facilities and night life?

Where is the job?

Stoke :help: they can live within a 30 mile radius. Which is why they thought Buxton.
