GrannyGranny   10 #13 Posted October 12, 2012 Buying a decent car involves a bit of luck but how good a garage is can be determined on the after sales care. Do they go out of their way when/if a problem occurs. Do they just do the minimum? Are they approachable? Do they return calls? Fortunately I've never had to go back to a dealer with any problems. I've bought from Noyland & Rhodes and Greenhill Motor Co. in the past and both cars gave me no problems. I've also bought from Martin Mcfaddens, a Volvo specialist in Drighlington http://www.justgoodcars.com/70326/car-dealer/martin-r-mcfadden.html who was excellent. the_bloke   17 #15 Posted June 14, 2015 The garage across from City Road cemetery. I bought my car from there (luckily found exactly what I was looking for, and only a short tram ride) the old fella there was nice enough, even knocked me some cash off.  He gave me a months warranty with the car and told me if anything goes wrong in that month take it back and he'll try and sort it, got me the log book through quick enough as well, unfortunately it's been fine for these few months so I couldn't get myself a free repair on something  I'd buy from him again, but it's unlikely he'll have what I want in again. I'm glad he was alright to be honest, 'cos this was the first car I'd ever bought properly. Can't remember the name, but if you find it, they got a site I think  I second City Road, I bought a car from there a few years ago for my wife. He seems to specialise in very low mileage cars that are between 5 to 10 years old and has a wide range. Nice bloke.
 Share this content via...

Timeh   10 #22 Posted June 16, 2015 Century in S6 are always good  Cant agree. I waited for a call from them on two separate occasions and this was when i was interested in buying from them. Id hate to now what they are like if you buy something then have a problem.
 Share this content via...
ivan edake   13 #23 Posted June 16, 2015 Don't buy from any of them, you'll do much better buying private. If you aren't mechanically minded the RAC or AA will do a vehicle inspection, they can also do a finance and indemnity check. If you want a warranty you can also buy this privately and if you need finance, arrange your own, search around. At the end of the day you will be quids in. Bottletop   10 #24 Posted June 16, 2015 Car People again, very good service and did us a reasonable deal too. Bear in mind it's a national dealership so prices may be a tad higher than your local garage. But then you get more for your money in terms of trust and knowing you can go back and get it sorted if anything goes wrong.  I wouldn't travel far or let dealers know you're limited for travelling to/leaving the place or they'll probably knock less off in a deal thinking you may be more desperate to buy than most.
