Strange light shooting across the sky, seen all over Sheffield 21/9/12

saw it going over Beauchief about 15 mins ago looked too big and close for a comet

Similar to that, but what I saw was bigger and had more tails of light behind it. It also had a green tint to the light!

I saw it from Wisewood and assumed it was a new kind of horizontal firework! It passed very slowly overhead, a large ball of fire with a fragmented tail, sparks and glowing pieces of matter drifting in it's wake.

 

Absolutely amazing, I've never seen anything like it.

It came over fir vale about 11Pm, it was very very large looking and seemed quite low. Amazing

It seemed quite fast but slowed down as it started to fragment, and to answer another user - I was having a smoke :-)
