Is Huntley road (S11) ok to live

Recommended Posts

Just wonder if anyone knows about what it is like living on Huntley road (S11). We are looking to move to that area and seen quite a few houses up for sale on that road, which is not too long. Why is everyone wanting to move out?

Colleague lives on Huntley and I lived in that area for over 10 years.

Good area, close to shops, not too far into city, Ecclesall rd just down the road, good schools if thats important, decent open spaces nearby...

So lots of positives.

people sell up and move for a lot of reasons, I wouldn't say its unusual to have a few houses on a road up for sale at any one time.

judging by the land registry for our area, people who own/occupy tend to move on after 5-7 years, usually after refurbing a house and making a bit of profit. This is a city after all, people tend to want to expand and/or move on to pastures new for work.

talking a quick look at the reported crime maps for this road, seems pretty normal, a few ASB over the last 2 years, but that really could be anything. We were shocked to find quite a lot of ASB reported on our road while we have lived here but have never seen/heard anything worth ringing the police for!

Great area to move to but parking will be the only annoyance. School days you will find people parking right outside your house unless your living near the bottom of Huntley Road.

If you are seeing a few houses up for sale some of them have been renovated by independent property developers. One or two houses had not been well looked after aesthetically and they have been recently done up.

I have worked on many houses on Huntley Road and the customers seem quite happy living there. You do have people parking outside your house for 10-15 minutes or so at School dropping off and picking up time but they don't tend to block drives. The top end suffers more from this than the bottom end.

Also think about the snow. The top end would be easier to get on and off than the more hilly bottom end.

Huntley Road is impossible with snow you need to get your ski's out. :)
