He died in the 1960s at least he seemed trapped in a cultural vacuum.

No I can distinguish between the two,but would rate equally highly-lookm how the sales of tranquilisers has exploded since their hey-day

89, a good age. Farewell Max, I will fondly remember your days of hosting "Family Fortunes", where you could win BIG MONEY!

I remember him being at the Cavendish club in its early days and died on his bum. He told the press that,"Sheffield people weren't ready for cabaret yet."

 

The audiences in northern working mens clubs had seen the birth of many top class entertainers and the so called stars from the south could never understand that we weren't about to fawn at the feet of mediocrity. He seemed like a nice enough bloke but he didn't exactly blow your socks off. Nevertheless.... RIP
