Grappler   12 #61 Posted August 31, 2012 She is simply the best athlete Sheffield, perhaps this country/nation has ever produced. And deserves everything she is due, freedom of the city and riches her status deserves, a well grounded, photogenic great athlete. One we should all be proud of.  Let's not forget Daley Thompson, the greatest all round male athlete in his day. Bladesman   10 #62 Posted August 31, 2012 What does Alan Hodgekinson get then a bottle a champagne and a handshake?  Even TC hasn't got a stand named after him!
 Share this content via...

iansheff   88 #67 Posted August 31, 2012 This is pretty cringeworthy to be honest. Why would a football team (with loads of history) re-name a stand after a non-footballer and a distant fan (at best)? P.S. I'm not an Owl!  Wednesday aren't it is Utd that are
 Share this content via...
iansheff   88 #68 Posted August 31, 2012 "they" have said nothing  Its only Owls fueling the fabrication, we have asked for proof, or a single link re a statement from the club, yet the nearest any one has come up with is..it was a suggestion on Alan Biggs twitter page !! DONT PANIC EVEN TC HAS NOT GOT HIS OWN NAMED STAND !  Maybe you Owls should stop over reacting, your envy is understandabel, but surely we are all allowed to share in the ladys glory, the Sheffield lass did well.  Was mentioned on BBC radio Sheffield at noon. jpmorris   10 #69 Posted August 31, 2012 Cannot understand why SUFC are thinking of naming a stand after Jess Ennis as she has never fallen at the last hurdle
 Share this content via...
Ousetunes   10 #70 Posted August 31, 2012 There is a page on the Blades Website dedicated to this farce.  Personally, I think this is a desperate piece of tokenism, a 'look at us' gesture. It's almost as loony as the Michael Jackson statue outside Fulham's knackered old ground!!
 Share this content via...

It's almost as loony as the Michael Jackson statue outside Fulham's knackered old ground!!  If anything, they should've renamed one of the executive boxes after her - still, I suppose it doesn't cost anything, apart from for a new sign, or perhaps they're going to paint it gold (like Delboy did in the Chinese Restaurant - now that would be a sight...)  Maybe KM's hoping that Ennis might be a new investor down the line...!
