For the train you need to work out whether buying a season ticket or getting a 16-25 railcard plus discounted day returns each day is cheapest.

You can do that at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk or pop down to the station and talk to the ticket office staff.

For the buses you can buy a 'plus-bus' add on to your rail ticket - see http://www.plusbus.info.

The responses so far have been pretty awful to be honest.

If you're going for public transport, from Sheffield Station you can either take the train bound for Bridlington, which stops at Hull, or take the train to Doncaster and switch to the train bound for Hull.

Once at Hull, the train station is also the bus terminus, where you can catch the 105 (EYMS operated, £1.40 single, £2.70 return, £9.50 weekly rider) from bay 20. The bus stops outside the university and runs every 20-30 mins.

I recall someone said that the station is cold with nowhere to buy refreshments? Well, across the street there is a shopping centre with a Starbucks, Krispy Kreme as well as a few other eateries.

If you have no family commitments, then move to Hull. You can get a student room for ~£70-80 a week all bills included, close to the university.

If you are driving, it is worth noting that parking around the university is pretty bad unless you get a permit (Contact the uni about that), and that the university is not in the middle of town, it is fairly suburban.
