there was one (i can't remeber what it said) at the back of the Shakespear pub in heeley (on gleedless rd). i haven't been there for a while but it will probably still be there.

 

just been past this and it is still there, it says "live and learn"

you dont need to "know " about something that is patently infantile and looks a mess? graffiti artists so called are nothing more than jumped up taggers? and "banksy" wannabees, at least banksy was original!

Indeed, Banksys style of using stencils is not an original concept. The artist Ernest Pignon-Ernest used stencils as far back as the 1960s to depict quite political subjects. As have other artists. True originality is a rare thing.

I didn't realise that once one person had done something, no one else could give it a shot.

 

Someone should tell that to all the authors, artists, poets etc. Here they are wasting their time, because they'll never be 'original' eh?

Thanks but most of those threads aren't relevant.

 

They only show possible locations for his artwork in abandoned buildings. I'm only interested in the Yorkshire Sayings artwork.

 

Any help is appreciated.

 

He did an exhibition in the millenium gallery last year. There were a set of button badges on sale there with some sayings on. "reyt good" "tha knows" "defs" "mebs". Not sure if thats of interest to you.

not comparing styles just the way he placed them that was the "original" bit and now others are jumping on the back of what he did.....and pretty poor examples too
