Sheffield Wednesday V Birmingham City. Tues 21/8/12.

Recommended Posts

Mighty Sheffield Wednesday V Birmingham City 21/8/12.

1945 hours, Tuesday evening.

The Mighty Wednesday start the Championi season at Hillsborough with

an evening kick-off against Birmingham City. Both teams come

off the back of draws, Brum drew 1-1 against Charlton and the Mighty

Heroes of Hillsborough fought back in the second half to secure a well

deserved 2-2 point at Derby. (Such a gallant & glorious fight back).

So we now have the makings of a very interesting, very difficult, evenly

matched, mid-table clash between Mighty Wednesday in 11th place and

Brum in 12th.

(Many Mighty Wednesday fans would be happy with their current

league position come May 2013 - well away from any kind of

relegation dogfight.)

Birmingham City last visited Hillsborough in January 2009.

It ended in a 1-1 draw after Brum equalised in the 90th minute.

On previous visits, Brum won 3-0 in 2006 and 1-0 in 2001.

No matches are easy when you are part of the Championi-ship.

(The only Championi side in the whole of Sheffield)

It will be a fantastic night if Mighty Wednesday can add 3 Mighty

Points to their 50 Mighty Points Crusade.

Sheffield Wednesday - A Mighty Team with Mighty Fans.

looking forward to this one as it will be tough. if and its a big if we can get up for it (not give them a 2 goal head start), and manage 3 pts il belive were good enough to push on top half ish where as if they rip us apart (anythings pos with wed) then i see a long tough season ahead. basically this imo is the game (at home) were we can see 'our level'

hope rodri makes his debut as this rumor has been around a long time and seems abit of a prospect this kid think mattock and lee deserve a chance at fb with reda moving cb with llera

Good point that m8, think we need to think about replacing Reda and Buxton, Lewis was awfull all in all on Saturday and you can tell Reda is playing out of position in this division.

Defo Reda and Llera in the centre though...

If anything Birmingham should be challenging for automatic this season with the squad they have so if you get anything out of this game I take my hat off to you before you have even kicked a ball because home advantage or not this side are on of the better ones in that league who you will come up against.

In goal they have one of the best goalkeepers in the country right now and arguably the best outside of the top flight in Jack Butland, looked a smart keeper for team GB the other week and will should they keep hold of him in next couple of weeks they have done well as he will end up in prem.

In my opinion they probably have a couple of the Championships best strikers in Peter Lovenkrands and Nikola Zigic but then Marlon King and Adam Rooney aren't bad subs are they really.

Then you have other quality players like Wednesday's favourite player Darren Ambrose :hihi: (couldn't resist) but he is a class act when on song, they've got that Ravell Morrison on loan from West Ham, it's not that long ago that Man United were raving on about him being the next best thing in English football. Then you have the steady eddies in Steven Caldwell, Curtis Davies and Johnathon Spector.

Promotion challenging team if I ever saw one so I will say it again, hat off to you if you bag three points in this one a draw would be a decent enough result in it's own rights as i'm sure we will see by Brums position come the end of the season.
