Guinness3378
Hi All I have moved a CCTV camera for a friend and its not working now and a other camera has stopped working!, here is what I have done to help you understand so you can help me hopefully. The camera is an external camera so I opened the junction box to find the lead from the camera had a yellow video connector and two wires (black & red) were connected to a block, from the block there was wire that looked like alarm wire with 4 cores (Black, Red, Blue, Green) the black & red wires were also connected to the block opposite the same colour but the other two wires were left. I was extending the circuit to this camera by 12 metres so my friend had a better view. I went to mapplin and bought a video cable with female connectors and some two core flex, I connected the video cable with a double male adapter and wired the flex into the block, fitted all the conduit up and fed cables through, I then reconnected camera to new cables and turned the power to the CCTV system back on but there was no picture to this camera and the other external camera. I checked for power in the other camera but there wasnt any either, I checked a inspection junction to find that two video cables and one flex cable comes out of the property, one video goes to one camera and one to the other camera, the flex goes to the camera that I haven't moved into connector +, then one flex comes from the connector - to the camera that I have moved, all the wires from the flex go into connectors from both flex cables. There has been power to both cameras after turning the CCTV system on and off a few times but when I left tonight there is power. I checked all the power leads behind the CCTV recorder which were all connected properly, what's weird is when I disconnected each power lead only internal cameras went off when it was unplugged. My friend doesnt know were the cameras power is fed from and I'm struggling to understand what's happened as I have only extended the cables. I just reconnected the camera back to its original state but both cameras still not working PLEASE HELP i'm going back in the morning so any suggestions welcome
