The NHS will not provide the procedure on Lillie she has quadriplegia CP and NHS don't do it on children with type. Also the children that do have in in england it is not funded by NHS the families still have to fundraise to pay for it.

The SCOPE website suggests that some of this surgery is performed on the NHS with Leeds and Nottingham being centres for it. The NICE guidance 2010 appears to recommend it in older children.

It seems quite unfair for this not to be available on the NHS if the neurologists are recommending it. Good luck raising the cash.

Too bad this family isn,t from a 3rd world country , everything for this child would be done free in the USA

Thank you. Yes the NICE guidelines do suggest it for older children. in england they do not even start the referral until the child is 4. This process at times can take up to 2 years meanwhile the child has already got deformities of the feet and as gone through numerous surgeries that could have been avoided by early SDR. A petition as been taken to Mr Cameron to change NICE guidelines although as yet there's been no response.

when you have spent as many sleepless nights researching into this operation like Lillie's mum has then you can give any negative comments you like. There are different types of cerebral palsy and the ways that it affects children. This young women needs all the help she can get, so if anyone knows a way round the fund raising that we are doing then please feel free to let us know.
