charlie_boy
Just got off the middlewood tram with my wife (about 9:30ish) Walking up path to wadsley park village, at back of kiddies nursery, just got to the top of the path. Heard this screaming behind us. Looked round and 3 kids had jumped a man coming home from work!! Threw him to the floor and got his arm round his neck asking for his phone and wallet! We didnt go up to them (protecting my wife) but i stopped at the top and called 999 straight away. They got his iphone then ran off onto winn gardens. We went up to the bloke to make sure he was ok and passed him the phone. Waited 5mins for police and then i (only one out of 3 of us who saw what they looked like) went for a drive round to catch them. Didnt see them. Police said he HATES that estate and all the trouble, he said its a nightmare! The guy was ok because he was sensible enough to give them his phone straight away. He was shook up. My wife however is distraught and terrified as she often walks up on her own from work! Of the 3 men 1 was white and the other 2 were black. Aged early 20's. I saw them sat outside the premier shop so they were obviously watching for single people getting off the tram! Scum of the earth!! While i was driving round with the officer another police car was on there and he said he saw 3 men run 5mins before the job came in! They have to patrol regularly on winn gardens. What a god awful place! I feel sorry for the few ok people on there! A lovely village like this and its spoilt by scum from a nearby hovel! Not safe anywhere these days! Signs should be put up at the tram stop to warn people!!
rubydazzler
What a horrible thing to happen but at least you were there and helped him as much as you sensibly could. I often think the worst part about being attacked must be being alone and hurt and no-one to help you. So good it's that you were there. I bet the victim really appreciates your presence. We waited with him, helped the police and lent him our phone. Also told him to get a stiff drink! When i round with the police car my wife stood with him. Nothing much more i could have done :/

Billy Casper
I had my wife with me who has recently been discharged from hospital after having a miscarriage and is still poorly from the D&C! My main priority was her and getting her far enough away that she was safe so i could then call the police and go and make sure the man was ok! What an ass you are! Im not a coward but i am sensible and i helped him as much as i could! Don't rise to it fella, you did what you could.

Ignore the comments, but if you read them I would say looking at them they are probably from one of the many school kids on here - theres a lot on SF
Andy
Sometimes it's better not to get involved. If there were three of them they could have taken your wallet and phone too, then how would you have called the police?
Forumosaurus
What do you do if there's three of them. To be fair if you went and jumped in they'd have probably run off, but guess you can't really know either way and is it really worth it? I'd say if you have nothing to lose, jump in. It's good that the police were called though it's a shame they didn't catch these cowards.
