jemson
We`re blessed with some very reputable ones in the Steel City, but which produces the best real ale in your opinion?
taxman
The Little Ale Cart brews are very consistent but only for those who like their beers pale and hoppy.
BigJezLad
Difficult one this as I enjoy most of em but for me at minute it's Bradfield Brewery and especially Farmers Blonde
Bilge
I like Bradfield best I think. Abbeydale beers are very nice too (esp Moonshine) but they have too many of a similar style with just slight variations in strength.
Dronfielder
Abbeydale are good. I like the stuff from Sheffield Brewery co. Bradfield, brown cow and Farmers blonde are excellent. Have you tried the 3 valleys IPA or Full Monty from Barlow??

Ale House
Is Saltaire in Sheffield?
jemson
Is Saltaire in Sheffield? Afraid not but neither is Barlow! FWIW I find Bradfield nice enough but lacking a bit, good value though, whereas Blue Bee are expensive, aren`t they? Brew co aren`t bad and Little Ale Cart have some nice ones. I`m thinking Abbeydale probably.
DerbyTup
It's hard to judge an entire brewery rather than individual beers but I would have to vote for Bradfield brewery I think. There are 2 beers of theirs that I particularly like, the Farmer's IPA and Sixer. Sixer being my favourite - because I like the stronger beers. I also like the Belgian Blue beer that they brew at certain times of year. Farmer's Blonde is appearing all over Sheffield thesedays - it's not a bad beer but a bit too light for my liking. Abbeydale isn't my favourite brewery I have to say. When they first started out I used to enjoy Moonshine and Absolution - but there are so many similar and better brews than these now. At that time they were quite unusual (although Absolution is based on Kelham Island's Pale Rider I suspect). Similar story for Kelham Island really - I used to think Pale Rider was unbeatable - but others do it better now. I've tried a few of the Blue Bees stuff - yes, that's nice too - although I don't think I've had a strong beer 5% or greater from there yet. I've not been over impressed with the stuff from Sheffield Brewery Company tbh. I've tried that down the Gardners at Neepsend a while back and just thought it was quite ordinary. I'd also mention the Barlow Brewery as being very good - and endorse Full Monty especially. But apparently Barlow isn't in Sheffield so... I suppose that rules out Thornbridge as well then? (btw - the guy who mentions Saltaire - that's Bradford - it's good beer though). The best brewery within 30 miles of Sheffield is Buxton Brewery, closely followed by Thornbridge. But I realise that wasn't the question!
