bassett-boys
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17841566 Clubs in the championship have followed Leagues One and Two by voting in favour of the financial fair play rules. The Football League chairman Greg Clarke said "They will start to lay the foundations for a league of financially self-sustaining clubs" This comes about after research of the 72 clubs who form The Championship, League One and League Two shows clubs are on course to reach a combined £2Billion pounds in debt!. The rules come into play next year however will take full effect from the 2014-2015 so in theory in the next three years clubs have to either gain promotion to the promised land and stay up there whilst the are allowed to spend or alternatively stay in The Championship and adhere to new rules regarding spending and funding. - Next Season owners will be allowed to invested £6m into their clubs. - The Following Season owners will be allowed to invest £5m into their clubs. - In 2014-2015 Championship club owners will only be able to invest £3m. - From 2015-16, clubs will be allowed to make a £2m operating loss, as well accept a £3m investment from an owner - allowing for a £5m overall loss. - Clubs promoted to the Premier League that fail to adhere to the amendments must pay a fair-play tax on their losses, ranging from 1% on the first £100,000 to 100% on anything over £10m. - Non-promoted clubs will not be punished financially for failing to adhere to the new rules, but instead placed under a transfer embargo. Have a read, very interesting indeed, to an extent exciting as it will help to create a more level playing field whilst protecting clubs from over spending and administration. My only one concern and maybe I haven't thought this through but should caps be in place in the Championship etc, does this not make losing players more likely as clubs can't afford to spend as much on salaries therefore players will opt to leave for higher football and higher salaries?
