Bruno
I suppose no matter what you buy, when you get it you'll be happy with it, as I say what I've got does what I want it to do. I have the 3G version which comes in handy when I'm out and about and my 02 connection is crap for tethering but the 3 coverage is fine. If I was gonna go the tablet route and say me and my o/h got one each, I'd recommend a mifi unit with a 3 sim as u can connect up to 6 devices, I know that's slightly off topic but a handy to have item for those who bought wifi only models and wish they'd bought a 3G model. I use my phone as a Mifi spot a fair bit, i dont see the reason in having multiple contracts when my mobile acts as a mobile hotspot when I need it at the touch of a widget on my home screen. Bruno
Using as a payg u can get a sim which will give you 3 month 1 gig a month for £13 off eBay or about £7 for 1 month ideal for going away in uk, or the mifi unit ideal abroad for purchasing a sim there if u can't get free wifi. Again all down to what you want to do with the device you purchase.
AlexAtkin
However much I hate Apple, I think the iPad 3 wins for apps. There are several games I like which aren't available on Android. That said, I could never rationalise a tablet anyway. Personally I am thinking I might consider a tablet once the Microsoft Surface Pro comes out. With it effectively being a proper x86 PC in tablet form, it means it will double as a full laptop by pairing up a bluetooth keyboard/mouse. The only other tablet I might consider are the ones where you dock your phone into them and it effectively turns your phone into a tablet. Because having a THIRD independent device in addition to my phone and laptop is just a PITA. Its actually a real shame Apple didn't make the iPhone dock into an iPad as that would really be something. Being able to play the same games on your phone then dock into an iPad, keeping the same save games etc WITHOUT having to use fancy cloud syncing. But I guess it would be damn hard to sell a normal iPad if they did that.
stereolab
Xperia S, I do believe there are others too. Thought so - I've got the Galaxy Note which isn't quite retina quality, but very high res aynway - the effect is kind of spoiled by the pentile display which means that its not quite as smooth as it could be. Seems like a really clumsy solution to me - having a tablet thats useless without the phone, and then what happens if someone calls when its plugged in to the tablet? It also means you'd be constantly taking the phone in and out of any case you might have.
Bruno
Here is a handy tip for iPad, iPhone and iPod users. If you ever get problems with your home button sticking with excessive use! go to settings/general/accessibility/ then turn on "Assistive Touch" ( it will place a home button on screen ) try it out

A list of pro's and cons would be useful to compare.. Downfall I find with the iPad is arrow keys to quickly scroll back through text.
