Pedestrians deliberately walking out in front of cars

Recommended Posts

Yes, he's an idiot. However, the basic principle is that pedestrians always have right of way over vehicles, because pedestrians are not a deadly weapon and vehicles are.

You`re probably right, but maybe the term "priority" is the wrong one. You wouldn`t know where the relevant section is in the Highway Code would you ? It`s not that I think you`re wrong I just haven`t got time to look it up.......

There is another type of pedestrian, usually the older ones who sprint off the pavement as a car is approaching and having got on the road, then meander across at a leisurely pace.

With heads down they must have total faith in the approaching driver.

Slightly off topic but about a year ago, i was driving to work and as i went down Newman Road, there was a group of boys on pushbikes. There were about 8 of them all aged between about 11-15. They were purposely getting infront of cars and slowing down, they were riding along side each other so nobody could pass them.

I eventually managed to pass them and continued on my way down the hill. I came to a bit where cars were double parked on the road so i slowed to a stop to allow a car to come up the hill. The boys on bikes were behind me. The one at the front had his head turned and he was shouting something to his mates behind so he didn't see that i'd stopped. He ran straight into the back of my car! He was going down hill so was travelling at quite a speed! It must have hurt! Anyway, i looked in my mirror and he seemed ok so i drove off. Maybe i should have stopped but 3 of the lads had big metal bars in their hands and i was alone so i wasn't going to risk it. It was his fault and served him right for acting like an idiot!

Anyway, i think all the lads were a bit shaken as when i looked in my mirror when i got to the bottom of the road, they were all on the pavement pushing their bikes!

Suprisingly, he didn't! I was dreading looking at the back of it when i got to work and i was expecting a bit of a dent at least but I think his tyre must have hit my bumper, then he'd gone forwards and kind of just hit my back window with his chest. So the only mark on my car was where the rubber from his handle bar had rubbed a bit of dirt off my car!

His face probably saved the impact of the bike. You're lucky!...:hihi::hihi:

What scares me is when mothers with a baby in a pram push it to the very edge of the kerb or even onto the road so youll stop and let them cross....ive lost count at how many emergency stops ive made through that!!

I mate of mine used to say that parents with prams should be forced by law to pull them across the road rather than push them into the traffic flow.....

There's a load of kids that do this on a tram track/road. They did it to a tram when I saw and he didn't even attempt to stop, scared them to death! I'm glad he didn't though because it'd just encourage them to do it more.

They also tried to do it to us in a car, but yeah, that wasn't happening either.

One of them will get run over one day, and then maybe they'll stop doing it.

I have no sympathy for them at all.

They do it all the time to the tram, and it's not just youngsters, it's all age groups, if the tram driver rings the bell these idiots just turn round and give a mouthful of filth.....
