MrSmith
Yes. By letting youngsters stick it to you and disrupt yours and others days you are really teaching them a valuable lesson. There's nothing to teach them, once they step onto the road they have priority and its becomes the drivers responsibility to avoid hitting them. Hopeful when they start driving they will have learned to respect other road uses and will drive safely.
Total Chaos
I remember once i was driving along Pagehall and there was a white van parked on the opposite side of the rd (where they all park illegaly and get away with it) a kid about 11 yrs old was running on the pavement and for some reason, i thought he was going to run out from behind the back of van.I slowed down just incase and he did as i predicted and ran straight into the side of my car.I slammed my brakes on and the kid was saying something and waving his hand about.I thought he was waving to me,as a thank you for stopping.I wound my window down and asked are you ok mate, he replied "go back,go back you've stopped on my foot",i reversed and he ran off :hihi:.I looked at the woman in the vehicle in the opposite lane, who was stook in traffic and was looking horrified,i shrugged my shoulders rolled my eyes and set off. As far as I understand it pedestrians only have priority if they`re crossing a side road as you turn into it. But whatever the legal position a pedestrian deliberately walking out into any road when there`s cars coming is an idiot. Personally I wouldn`t go so far as to say he deserves to be run into, but he`s asking for it, he really is.

However, the basic principle is that pedestrians always have right of way over vehicles, because pedestrians are not a deadly weapon and vehicles are. It's always the car driver's duty to try and avoid the pedestrian - that does not give the pedestrian carte blanche to deliberately try and get in the driver's way. Nataliie
There's a load of kids that do this on a tram track/road. They did it to a tram when I saw and he didn't even attempt to stop, scared them to death! I'm glad he didn't though because it'd just encourage them to do it more. They also tried to do it to us in a car, but yeah, that wasn't happening either. One of them will get run over one day, and then maybe they'll stop doing it. I have no sympathy for them at all. Nataliie
Oh why didn't you say, that's ok then. Yep To be honest, I can't believe you've took my comment that I wanted to purposely injure someone, so it was just easier to go along with what you presumed. I don't want to injure them, but if they did get run over, I'd have very little sympathy, because they caused it themselves and I'd be glad it wasn't an innocent who got hurt instead (which is usually the case) But one day, they'll cause an accident and I hope to god it isn't someone else who's injured by their stupid behaviour. If they get hurt, then it will stop them doing it.
