best sheff
That is generally the first thing it does. So your saying that a virus can actally disable anti-virus software. If true means that anti-virus software isnt very good in first place. Also mean the virus writer is a clever sod.

choogling
Best way i have found of cleaning out a computer without reinstalling windows is as follows.I remove the hdd and connect in to another machine using a usb adapter then i run Symantec to find and destroy the infection,it is easier to get rid of them if windows is not running. Some infections will stop the machine booting anyway. What antivirus were you running just out of interest. Also mean the virus writer is a clever sod. Anti-Virus programs can only ever be behind Virus writers, you can't write a virus definition for a virus that doesn't exist. However having said that most virusus are variations of other older virusus and can be caught easily if you keep your Anti-Virus upto date. The main problem now appears to be fake malware or anti-virus programs. These can be a real pain to remove but if you know what your doing it's not difficult, just time consuming. Why would you go to all that trouble when you just create a rescue USB pen drive and run it on the infected PC? Boot from the pen drive, have the anti-virus scan the drive. Job done. No messing around swapping hard drives around, no chance of infecting your own pc, and it's probably quicker. P.S. I'd rather have a virus on my drive than Norton. If Norton did its job correctly, you wouldn't be needing to be rescuing countless computers.
choogling
If Norton did its job correctly, you wouldn't be needing to be rescuing countless computers. As a matter of fact all of them were using free software or non at all not one single computer was installed with any version of Norton or symantec and nowhere did i say the contaminated machines were running Norton so why the sarky attitude.
