Skirmisher
In short, no. Your reason for this?
*Ryan*
Your reason for this? Because the media will make a big drama out of nothing for a story.
Skirmisher
Because the media will make a big drama out of nothing for a story. Two questions. 1. Are you Halibut? 2. If anyone does wrong, are they expected to be let off with it just to save the media from making "a big drama" out of it? The media don't make big dramas, the public who buy into it make the drama. Without anyone listening or reading, the media lose all their power.
Chris_Sleeps
2. If anyone does wrong What wrong has he done?
Skirmisher
What wrong has he done? Using a rascist comment about someone else, which in my book is wrong.
Chris_Sleeps
Using a rascist comment about someone else, which in my book is wrong. Someone else on twitter used said comment. Ferdinand himself said: 'I hear you fella! Choc ice is classic. Hahahahahahhha!! That's not a direct statement that anyone is a 'choc ice', but an agreement of someone else's comment. His crime is agreeing with it.

Are you yourself saying he did wrong after asking me what he did wrong? Are all the BNP supporters fine innocent upstanding members of the community, after all, they don't make the rascist comments, they just agree with it ? Nothing wrong with that? Chris_Sleeps
His crime is agreeing with it? If calling someone a choc ice is wrong, which is your assertion, then agreeing that someone is a choc ice is also wrong. The point I was making is that Ferdinand never actually used the term against anyone himself. It's a different 'wrong'. Are you yourself saying he did wrong after asking me what he did wrong? Yes. I'm saying he didn't actually call anyone a racist term himself. Are all the BNP supporters fine innocent upstanding members of the community, after all, they don't make the rascist comments, they just agree with it ? I can't answer that question properly because it's non-sensical. Firstly I doubt all BNP supporters avoid making racist comments themselves, and secondly supporting racist comments is wrong in itself.
frededwards
I think that most people with any intelligence are well away of what Ferdinand’s views on race are. He has a long history of being fairly outspoken. I doubt his views would be acceptable if coming from a white footballer.
rubydazzler
The 'coconut'/'choc ice' quip. It's implying that people of differing colour are obliged to be different on the inside as well, in spite of the fact that they have been born and raised in the same country, had the same education and will have been exposed to the same cultural influences? I suppose it's a similar mindset to that of those who bang on about others betraying their 'working class roots' when they try to emulate a different lifestyle? I'd infer from Ferdinand's tweet that he agrees with the comment and that, therefore, he needs to have a word with himself about his attitude.
