Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone else has suffered similar experience,my son went out with friends on saturday night for a few drinks, down town.Flagged a black cab after and dropped him at home, then realised he must have dropped his mobile in the taxi so, using his mates mobile rang his number, person that answered demanded £100 to return phone so my son agreed to meet him at a local cash point waited for 1 1/2 hours guy did not turn up.It,s an iPhone 4

which is now turned off and code protected so guy will not be able to use it as is.

Unfortunately there really are some awful people around. My guess is it was probably the taxi driver, I have known several people who have got out of taxi realised straight away they have left things contacted taxi firm to be told nothing was left in taxi.

Did your son try 'Find My Iphone' from icloud.com? Might not work now though if the phone is off...

yes I think so he's been on the internet and turning the house upside-down trying to find the box with the phones ID no.on it,he's also reported it to the police now.

My guess is that it was most probably the next passengers who got in the cab, I have known several people who have got in a taxi and assumed ownership of left items especially on a Saturday night as its busy and drivers don't always get a chance to inspect the back of the vehicle.

Don't know what time taxi drivers finish but this was around 3 o/clock sunday morning.

I trust the phone is insured?

I agree that it's more likely the following passenger(s) decided to keep the phone.

Or, perhaps they found it and handed it to the driver in good faith who then decided to flog it? We don't know but it is sad when people find things and don't have the honesty or courage to return them.

Good point Ousetunes. So many people have state of the art mobile phones nowadays and have no insurance on them ??? Madness ! The Iphone 4 is not a 'pocket money' phone at the end of the rather expensive loss day

Moral of the story is, Dont fall asleep or get into a taxi bladdered whilst mobile phone is not in a secure place.
