jesus
Ok, its as the title says, I came downstairs the other morning to let the cat in, and as I locked-up again, and was on my way out of the kitchen, my PC suddenly booted up, scared me half to death it did!! So i turned it off. Got up for work at 7 am the follwing morning, and it was on again!! Now, I know some of the responses will no doubt be "Have you checked Task Sceduler to see if somethings scheduled to run?" The answer is yes, I have, I have disabled all tasks in there. Is there something else I have missed or somewhere I haven't looked to see if something else is set to run? I've started switching the wall socket off now, which it isn't a big deal, but was wondering why all of a sudden its started happening? I haven't installed any new hardware or downloaded/installed any new software, so i have no idea why this has just happened. (unless we have ghosts!!) Any ideas greatly appreciated!! BarryRiley
Can you view an event log to see what's happening around the time that it is booting back up (i.e. what programs are starting up with it and possibly see whether it's something in the settings of one of these programs)

mr_arc
Check in the BIOS; look at what the PC is set to do when AC is lost/restored. It could be something interrupting the power over night; if the PC is set to power up on AC restore then it might just be that.

steev
Is the PC shut down properly overnight (not counting your recent unplugging ), or is it left in either sleep or hibernate mode?
Greengeek
If the PC is shut down, nothing in Windows is going to make it wake up. You've checked the Bios settings and they all look OK too. Could be a duff PSU, or even a faulty motherboard. I had one customer where the the PC wouldn't stay shut down. It would fire up again after about 2 seconds.
