Haribo96
my kitchen floor has been gradually sinking. Can anyone recommended someone to come and have a look at it and a suggestion as to what might be causing this?!?!
horribleblob
If you don't live on a houseboat and your property is quite new, then it could be inadequate compounding of the sub-base by the builders. I moved into an old house where, at one end of the kitchen, the floor had sunk by six inches (quite a gradient) but that was an old problem caused by subsidence after a WWII bombing raid and fixed by having new underfloor joists put in. Perhaps contacting a structural engineer would be a good first step.
Haribo96
Thanks horribleblob. The house was built around 1950. I think there used to be a bathroom where the kitchen now is so not sure if it will have anything to do with the problem? I will give a structural engineer a ring!
