GodStar   10 #42 Posted July 6, 2012 There will be no floods in the town centre of sheffield today from the river. This would only happen if a bridge blocks and that is unlikely. The flood warning is just that. The river levels are very low Unlike 2007 when they where very high the week before.  Take a look at the Don gauge it was on the bottom of the green band this morning. It will get slightly above the green today then go down over night. Sunday we will be nearly back to summer compensation water.  The level this morning was 0.1 on the gauge. At 1.30 now its 0.9 the week before the flood in 2007 it was 3.37. And the flood level was 4.9.  The rain will all be gone by 5.00pm.  The EA got criticism over the 2007 flood so they give out very early warnings to cover them selves. Know one batted an eyelid when the river came up level with the road at club mill lane the week before the flood. There is 2m before it would reach that today and it dident flood anything in sheffield. Some local roads will flood they all way have.  Go to E.A. WEBSITE look for riverlevels look at hadfeilds Gauge.  http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/floods/riverlevels/120702.aspx?stationId=8090
 Share this content via...
