alchemist
Coming from the city the traffic queue can build up from the lights to a point where there is a loss of view from around the corner due to vegetation, seen a few cars come round there and have to screech to a halt, narrowly missing the back of the queue, it only takes one not to be quite on the ball, and they're either into the back of the queue, across the white lines and head on, or across and down the bank! And of course they are ALL within the speed limit aint they?

growup
And of course they are ALL within the speed limit aint they? There also needs to be more reminders of the speed on that road. I had a discussion with a friend about it a few years who was certain the speed limit on the road was forty. After I pointed out the sign after wooley wood bottom says thirty not forty she did slow down on this road (please no comments on how she should pay more attention as I know this but won't help this cause). It is a horrible stretch of road for pedestrians and has only been made slightly better in the last few years by pavement being introduced on both sides of the road. My condolences are with the family.
clinteastwoo
Petition signed, but we should not have to be doing this with the amount of crashes on that stretch of road it must have been obvious to the highways or whoever that one day one of the accidents was going to be fatal. They just don't want to spend the money until its too late and they have to act, If this was an isolated incident then it would just be sad but this could have been prevented when the medical center was built, they could have found the money for the crossing then. alko27
Sadly, I believe that this sad occurrence is only the latest in an unacceptably long list of fatalities there Seems strange nothing has been done about then. Generally when you see things like cameras, speed bumps etc they have only been put there because of incident(s). I have just signed, and will encourage others too. 5,000 sigs should not be a problem if we all really get behind this. I use the route twice a day each way, I get fed up of cars driving up my ar$e coming up the hill either way just because I'm doing the speed limit, and only this morning I saw someone in front of me driving an astra, steam straight through the zebra crossing outside the post office as an old lady was about to cross the road, only to bloody pull in to the Medical Centre anyway!?! Why the rush and lack of care and attention on the road, must have been a staff member as it was just before 8am. I just hope whatever the safety changes around that patch do actually make a difference. Personally extending the path for a drop off point at both sides of the road could be doable, just not on the hill bits. Keep signing!
Harrods3940
I walk on Tyler St everyday to the train station: seen vehicles speeding from every direction. Have added my signature.
Planner1
Sadly, I believe that this sad occurrence is only the latest in an unacceptably long list of fatalities there That's not true, at least not in recent times. Check the route on crashmap: http://crashmap.co.uk/ No previous fatals and only one serious injury in past five years (Councils tend to look at number of injuries over a 3 or 5 year period). A few slight injuries.

Greengeek
Do you actually know that the car was speeding? All I've seen is that the woman concerned was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, so surely you might want to retract that allegation in case it affects any future court case. They aren't going to take into account some random person on the internet saying they were speeding.
