Vincero dOro
But if these mystical magical warning letters did exist, how would the traffic womble know if this guy hadn't had 100 warning letters before? That's pretty simple. Warn the organisers who will pass on the message to participants.
Cyclone
Why do people need special warning that they aren't allowed to park illegally?
Vincero dOro
Why do people need special warning that they aren't allowed to park illegally? Why do the counil not send wardens to places 200 yards away like Blackstock road where cars park illegally every day and have done for years. cosywolf
People were parked dangerously. They were a hazard. They weren't entitled to a warning, they were deserving of tickets. Which they got. We can only hope they'll remember next time, and choose to park in a way that will not put their wallet at risk. I would like to have said next time they will park with care and consideration, but clearly the selfish gene is strong in some, and I'm guessing only a personal hit to the pocket will do the trick. What would a warning have achieved? Apart from backing up their assumption that it is okay to park that way because there are no real penalties. Vincero dOro
I live nearby. People parked stupidly, and in several cases, very dangerously. Why should they not be held accountable for that? Because they were running for charity? So? Does that mean they can leave their brains at home and behave like numptys? As for Cliffhanger, they will use the lower field for parking and charge £3 per car. That is a given for most large events in the park. Doubtless some people will choose to park elsewhere. If they do so safely and considerately, I'm sure they'll be fine (not fined). If they park like jerks, they deserve the tickets. It's really very simple. I suspect that for the Cliff Hanger event parking in the lower field may not be an option. After 20 cars have driven onto the grass it will be like the Isle of Wight Festival. I also understand that there will be rock bands playing in the park in the evenings. I'm not sure what arrangements have been made for that. The council have just errected signs in the car parks announcing that the parks close around 9 pm and barriers will be closed.

I'll be surprised if it goes ahead with the current weather forecast. Graves is hobbled by its poor drainage. I'm not as disappointed as I could be. I was pleased Cliffhanger was going to be within walking distance this year... But it turns out our finances won't stretch to it at £7 a head. So we were going to Sharrow instead. Now we may just get the row boats out and paddle around the garden instead...
vinyl
Of course there is a very simple solution here that should suit everyone. The council should donate the £840 windfall from the parking fines to the cancer charity and no one losses out.
