muddywolf
You know some roads almost everyone seems to speed, these would make great places for a mobile speed trap. Where would you site one and would it be for money or safety? Broughton Lane is a 30/40 but it's rare people stick to the limit at the incline near centertainment. Nether Lane in Ecclesfield. Netherthorpe Road. Anyone any more for fun?
michelle21
Brightside lane travelling from city centre to forgemasters roundabout. People pass the cameras at newhall and speed along that stretch. Too many accidents already on there so it would be for safety.

Alcoblog
Before people start harping on about where they'd like to see speed traps, it may be a good idea to have the correct road signage in place in the first place to actually tell you what speed you're supposed to be doing! Driving on the A616 past Stocksbridge toward Langsett reservoir at the weekend, we were confronted with a myriad of conflicting signs ... some Urban Clearway, some 50mph, some 40mph and others (advisory) 30mph. All bloody mixed up for no apparent reason known to mankind! On top of that, there were speed camera warnings about every 100 yards. Presumably you're allowed to do 60mph on this road (no reason why not in most parts) although at the same time, you're not allowed! These signs are clearly only put there to confuse rather than any other reason, and in my estimation are actually a hazard! In the end, my GF, who's just got awarded three points for the heinous crime of doing 44mph in a 40mph zone, and not wanting anymore, decided the best bet was just to drive at 40mph all the way ... whilst the majority of other drivers drove past at a more respectable pace using their horns to indicate the danger we were posing by driving so slowly! Bludragonfly
I hate to say it after what happened there today but Tyler Street at Wincobank - in the dip in the road where the entrance to the train station steps are Newman Road - the bumps and zebra crossing haven't slowed most of the traffic
IRONMONGER
Gladstone Road. But I expect Rivelin Valley Road and Halifax Road provide richer pickings.

Before we go complaining that the roads are signposted wrongly, how about using avoiding your own confusion and using correct terminology? "urban clearways"? How are they related to speed limits? How about assuming that there are reasons (hazard levels) for the increase and decrease in speed limits. Maybe some of the signs relate to the side roads? (I don't particularly know the road in question). Would you have the authorities not warn you about speed enforcement measures? Oh, and how about knowing what the prevailing speed limits are, driving to them where practicable and safe AND avoid the horn-blasts of some on here (not me) who would drive you and your GF off the road as a numpty?
