Houses in S10-S11 overpriced?

Recommended Posts

Well we could always live in council houses, next to people who have all night parties and smoke pot. That's the Chem1st way.

Those who actually prefer to pay our own way and not sponge off everybody else can buy houses in nice areas. Until the council move more "Chem1sts" to the area, like Lodge Moor.

Just because you can't afford a property doesn't make it overpriced. If it was overpriced, no-one would buy it. Stuff is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

I'd also say that as a small island, space is at a premium, therefore houses on that space are also at a premium.

You sound like someone with no appreciation of life on a council estate, and most tenants are elderly respectable people who worked hard to give people like you the freedom to pontificate and derive an income by playing around on a computer.

Woah woah woah.

I do not have all night parties. I do smoke fairtrade British pot, but that hurts nobody.

My problem is the lack of affordable housing for all. There is a lack of housing and people lack security of tenure. Without ample housing and security of tenure our communities cannot thrive.

There is no scrounging neither. The long suffering Brits have paid above and beyond the fair price for housing for centuries, in the form of land and slavery unto their local landlords, the true parasitic class.

Build houses and make a profit by all means, but don't borrow, speculate and seek rent from your own.

TLIO!

I was just using you as an example, as you are pretty vocal :D

Wonder where I fit in then?

I have just moved from Greystones, to Gleadless Valley - ex council property, having swopped my home with family members - my children. I still own my house in Greystones, but Gleadless Valley has cheaper overheads and is smaller and easier to maintain, with a small level garden. The valley itself is nice and green and my asthma has improved since moving away from the Ecclesall Rd. I don't miss the traffic to the west of the city.

I have a full-time job - so not dependent on benefits - so that's not the main issue.

Its very quiet where I now live, tucked away - in fact quieter than Greystones, as there is less traffic - its not perfect, but for someone who doesn't need access to a 'good' school - its a reasonable compromise.
