Clarification of V5 details on HPI check

Can someone tell me please, what is the difference between the date of first registration and the V5 registration document issue date?

Date of first registration............when car was first registerd new

v5 issue date................................date v5 was issued to current owner

Thanks, that helps. I was thinking it meant the date that the V5 was originally issued (when car was new) as opposed to current owner.
