Rodney King dead

Recommended Posts

its quite funny seeing how people such as rodney king stir up a lack of compassion or even interest in certain people of a more right wing nature

The guy was a criminal, he attacked the police.

The police got prosecuted when the usual lobbies started bringing pressure to bear.

The police were acquitted by a jury of their peers.

The lobbies and King's 'bruvvas' weren't keen on the verdict so they set about causing about 50 deaths and millions of dollars of damage.

Using Federal law they had a second crack at the cops and made sure that they got the verdict 'right' .

Any compassion for the hundreds or thousands affected by that?

Why should it "stir up" any feelings of compassion for more than anybody else who die everyday of various accidents, ill health, or substance abuse? What was this person's special contribution to the world or society?

His relatives gathered yesterday in a ceremony to "celebrate his life". Not much to celebrate as far as I can see. Never had a steady job, run ins with the law and lost all the 2 million dollars he was awarded in damages.

He's remembered for uttering the words "Cant we all get along" more than anything

Reginald Denny the truck driver who was brutally beaten almost to the point of death never fully recovered from

the beating and the thugs who did it left prison a long time ago.

I remember watching the whole thing live on the evening news and wondering where the hell the police and paramedics were as Denny lay there without any help.

Two black people finally came along and took him to hospital in their car

He wasn't even smart enough to realise that the answer to his question was NO.

The average young black man in the US faces far greater risk of dying at the hands of his fellows than he does at the hands of the police.
