Sheffield Shamblers Walking Group - Cromford - Sunday 17th June

Recommended Posts

This is a 10.5 mile walk taking us 5 hours plus stoppages. It starts from the Black Rocks Parking area above Cromford, taking us onto the High Peak Trail and through Middleton Top, Callow, Kirk Ireton, Bolehill and back to Black Rocks.

The description describes it as a rewarding walk offering great views in places. The route and terrain takes us through fields, woodlands, down country lanes, through farm land and across one or two roads. The pub visited on route is described as a real ale pub, serving beer from the barrels rather than from the pumps.

Start time: 10:40am

Meeting point: Black Rocks parking area (above Cromford)

Map Reference: SK290557

Parking: Black Rocks Parking Area

The nearest postcode I can find is DE4 4GT. To get to the Black Rocks parking are. take the A6 road from Matlock to Derby, turn right onto the A5012/Cromwell Hill, which becomes the B5036. You then want your eighth road off on your left (from when you turned off the A6), its the one after Bakers Lane, and Black Rocks Parking area will be signposted there.

Refreshments and Toilets: Toilets in the car park and at the pub at Kirk Ireton half way round.

Public transport: Sorry not reachable by bus or train. Car sharing is advisable.

Walk Leaders: Village Owl, Rick The Roman.

Additional information:

Anyone who is able to offer lifts, could they put this in their post, passengers please note that the driver may wish to join the rest of the group for a drink after the walk, so please bear this mind, thanks
