The scheme is now available to view in full online, though surprisingly not on the PTE website!!

A hell of a lot of service reductions planned by the council and SYPTE, some areas losing their evening services like Birley or Hackenthorpe on the 42/44, or some areas losing their buses altogether like Psalters Lane, Grimesthorpe and Ringinglow.

Why can't they just leave things alone! We've had all this before with Optio Orange last suummer. Once again SYPTE and the council try to step in and make things much worse for the passengers. Looks like the fares are going up too to pay for the scheme. Now going to be £17 for the week according to the link above, rather than £11 as I pay now with Stagecoach. Bloody typical!!!!

You are missing the point, the operators have little say in this. Obviously Stagecoach (the PTE's best friend) will come out of it better off than any other, but it is very much a case of do what we say or we will hit you with this big stick called quality contracts. When your bus sevice is reduced and your choices are withdrawn remember who drew the plans up.

Already the 69 will be reduced to every 30 minutes in order to give the tram train and BRT schemes a reason to exist.

The PTE's best friend? are you sure about this or is this just the usual PTE bashing that about 70% of yours posts are about. The operators have a very big say in this as the are private companies and can always walk away from an area as they have done in other parts of the country (see Devon and Cornwall). Certainly on all the dealings i have had with the likes of First and Stagecoach I know just how much power they have in things like this.

The bus partnership is completely seperate to the one (since the other will not happen now via Waverley) BRT scheme that will eventually operate via M-Hell as you are probably aware but choose to ignore the fact that your claim regarding the 69 going to every 30 minutes will have absolutely zero impact in the already approved business case, funding and plans for the BRT. but why let facts get in the way of a good soundbite.

If you wish to scaremonger at least get something of substance and logic behind your claims.

The link quoted above is NOT an official site.

The OFFICIAL consultation website is now live at http://www.sheffieldbuspartnership.co.uk and includes a map of the proposed changed network, a list of every bus route with what changes are proposed and a link to comment on each individual route.

Remember operator specific tickets will still exist, however the new Citywide tickets will mean if you want a ticket for all operators you will pay much less than you have to at the moment and in fact the new Citywide tickets are cheaper than First currently charge!

But if you need to come from Chesterfield and use a First bus in Sheffield you'll still be in the same situation as you are at the moment and have to buy more than one ticket?

My claims as you put it are based on the information given. Wait and see that is all I will say. My PTE bashing as you put it is based on facts and their complete innability to perform as per their remit.

The fact that the 69 service is to be reduced is actually that - fact. To support the BRT I think yes, as I believe it to be flawed and in need of bolstering to ensure it is used. Having the funding in place for it does not put bums on seats.

Scaremongering? Wait and see, I know what I believe.

The remit of the PTE does not cover Derbyshire, much to their dislike I am sure.

what remit are you basing it on and what facts are you using to accuse the PTE of not performing.

The fact that the 69 service is to be reduced is actually that - fact. .

Supporting evidence please or have you looked at the link i provided above which is the latest confirmed news. If you have insider knowledge which i presume you have then please share it with us. The 69 is a commercial route with no funding from the PTE isnt it therefore it is a decision by First to amend any service it chooses to and nothing to do with the PTE

To support the BRT I think yes, as I believe it to be flawed and in need of bolstering to ensure it is used. Having the funding in place for it does not put bums on seats..

You do know that the original plans and business case was written for the BRT in 2008 dont you? And that the business case and bid submission called for an additional number of bus passengers using BRT in addition to the existing bus netowrk, not a replacement of passengers from one service to the other. So losing one bus an hour on a service 4 years after the bid submission and at least 18 months before BRT starts running has no relevance to it at all and until any bus operator confirms any changes to services then it is all rumour.

Scaremongering? Wait and see, I know what I believe.
Give us the facts then supported with evidence and convince us.

You will - the county boundary creates that issue, but you won't be any worse off and you will probably still benefit as the extra ticket you buy in addition to your Stagecoach Megarider to get travel with First is likely to be cheaper than now.

Although with the Stagecoach Sheffield network growing you may soon be able to get to your destination without using First...

Can anyone give me a valid reason why 28 day tickets exist? Name another "monthly" service that only last 28 days? Yet another plot by SYPTE/Bus companies to extract as much money as possible from people who need the bus for work.

The day ticket is at a new lower price and the weekly is not yet available!

wrong......the city wide day ticket is £5.00, the lower priced day ticket, the weekly ticket, the monthly ticket, the yearly ticket and the City60 ticket that is just a re-hash of Firsts Switcha ticket are not yet available as they are only proposed tickets and prices, its all part of a consultation between members of the Sheffield Bus Partnership, nothing at all has been agreed.
