Any tips on marketing a new business?

Recommended Posts

Understand your customer, know what influences them to buy your product, know what problem your product solves & engage with them.

Depends how quickly you want the biz to take off but twitter is a great source if you're willing to search for people talking about your specialism.

Yep a good social marketing plan is very effective as is some decent PR if you have a launch story or new business win or something - getting exposure in local or business press can be really helpful. All depends what it is you're doing as to how best to market it!

The above advice is spot on. Also, know who your competitors are and differentiate yourself from the competition... determine what it is that your product/service does different to everyone else (a USP) and use this as the forefront of your promotional activity.

If you are looking for cheap ways to market the business - social networking (facebook, Twitter, etc) is the best place to start.

If you are able to give people on the forum some more details on the type of business you are starting, this may allow us to offer specific advice where to start.

Hope that helps. And best of luck :)

It depends if you are looking for business to business or domestic. Ive been asking my customers and potential customers about twitter and facebook and very few of them use them. They are not technophobes but they don't use it. A lot of them are only just getting on linked in in the last year.

If you give us a clue on what business you have you may gett a bettr response from your peers. I send letters to my potential customers and phone them.

If you are starting a new business then you probably don't have much of a marketing budget.

Probably the best thing to do is take things one step at a time and start smaller scale, and gradually build up, reinvesting in a marketing budget as and when you acquire new business.

If you take things slowly to begin with then you will also get a better idea of what marketing methods work best for you and your business.

Depends if it is online.

Build a website using Weebly or Wordpress

Once you have built the site....You will need a social feed, Facebook, twitter, Google+ etc.

Only use original content on your site and make it user friendly.

Social feeds will drive business in the future so start using them now.

You don't need marketing if you are an online business you just need good a good SEO company and plenty of time to invest in building it up on the search engines
