Time to move on the players.

Recommended Posts

With a number of high earners out of contract this summer, it's time to sort out our ridiculously wage bill.

Simmo

Cresswell

Williamson

Beattie

Taylor

Ertl

McDonald

Out of those, I'd actually keep.....

McDonald - at whatever cost.

Cresswell - if he accepted a wage lower than 3k per week.

Simmo - Same as Cresswell.

Williamson - If he is willing to accept a reasonable wage.

Beattie - if he agreed to pay as you play.

Others not out of contract, I feel we need to move on....

Monty - High earner and no longer part of the Blades way.

Quinn - Wages aren't sustainable.

Porter - Not good enough.

Williams - I feel his best years have packed up and gone to Spain to sun bathe

There's a few fringe players who are give or take whether they should stay. These players wages aren't a 'concern'.

McAllister

Philliskirk

Howard

Tonne

Conneely

Harriot (who I believe is out of contract)

We should look to hold on to Maguire and Lowton, we should be looking to reject bids for these (dependent on the bid of course).

For those that I haven't mentioned, I'm happy for them to stay.

Simmo and Beattie would go for me too - Simmo as he can save unbelievable one minute and then have a nightmare game - we need more consistency.

Agree with Lowton and Maguire - he does make me laugh though as he looks knackered after first five minutes - played well yesterday I thought :)

It would look awfully callous, getting rid of the goalkeeper who saved three out of five penalties just because your own penalty-takers were too incompetent to score three of their own.

If we decided not to offer him a new contract, it wouldn't be because of a solitary game, that would just be stupid.

Didn't think much to your captain is it Doyle, he's simply no where near good enough from what I have seen of him this season...

Doyle has had a cracking season.

He doesn't work well at the side of Monty though, and again it happened yesterday.

For me, he stays, I believe his wages are sustainable. Good for this level, a good engine.... ticks all the right boxes.

I thought Beattie was already 'Pay as you play'

With Simmo, it's time to let George Long have a run at it, so i'd let him move on (unless he was happy to be on the bench at a reasonable wage).

If they can keep McDonald they have to - even if it means giving him a chunk of what they were paying Ched - but in all likelihood someone at a higher level will come in and make him a better offer.

I'd like Williamson to stay (especially if Macca goes), at most we only want one of Beattie, Porter and Cresswell (probably Cresswell as he offers more)... Ertl and Taylor can go - i'd like LJF to stay if fit, and ideally keep both Lowton and Maguire, barring ridiculous bids. Those two with Collins and LJF would form probably the strongest defence in the division, and allow DW to concentrate on bringing in a pacy striker or two who can finish...

Should be an interesting summer...

Doyle's a very good player at this level - on the games you've probably seen him in and not do well (at S6 and yesterday) he's had Monty alongside, and as most blades on here have said, it should only be one or the other. I'd be happy to see Doyle back again as captain next season...
