Description

 

This is a moderate 7.5 -8 mile walk taking us 3.5-4 hours, with ac pleasant combination of canal and woodland paths. Mostly on well trodden paths with one steep descent. It starts in Mexborough, taking us up to Conisborough Castle via the Sheffield and South Yorkshire navigation canal and the Conisborough Viaduct, before returning via Old Denaby.

Start time: 10:30am

 

Meeting point: Car Park at the rear of Mexborough Bus interchange, John Strret, S64 9HS - free parking

 

Refreshments and Toilets: Rest/lunch break in the gardens below Conisborough Castle. Wetherspoons or neaby alterantive pub in Mexborough

 

Parking: same as meeting place

 

Public Transport: Train leaves Sheffield at 9:52am arriving in Mexborough at 10:12am

Additional information:

 

Anyone who is able to offer lifts, could they put this in their post, passengers please note that the driver may wish to join the rest of the group for a drink after the walk, so please bear this mind, thanks

 

Importamt:

 

Anyone joining the walk should be of a level of fitness relative to the walk being undertaken, be appropriately dressed, have suitable footwear, and have with them enough food and drink for the duration of the walk.....

What a lovely walk. Well done to PAddy8 on leading his first Shamblers walk, you did a grand job, my friend. walking by a canal is always nice and it was lovely to see one looking so clean.
