CheekyBandit   10 #97 Posted May 10, 2012 What did we lose? And before you say 'the title', that wasn't our objective.   If the posts from both sets of supporters saying "Charlton are not that good", "Blades/Owls are going to overtake Charlton" (though more blades than owls) et cetera seems to suggest an objective of the title. sheff71 Â Â 10 #101 Posted May 10, 2012 If the posts from both sets of supporters saying "Charlton are not that good", "Blades/Owls are going to overtake Charlton" (though more blades than owls) et cetera seems to suggest an objective of the title. Â That was more because their sacked manager had already thrown the towel in before that - it was always unlikely Charlton would be caught by either, but both had to keep going in case you slipped up (and as it turned out it was us who slipped up instead!). I'm sure if the other way round, you wouldn't have wanted to see Powell give up three months before the end of the season as Megson did. Â Charlton deserved the title for grinding out results, can't see either promoted team (or whoever wins the playoffs) going straight up next season automatically though, too many strong teams in that division next season like Cardiff, West Ham, Brum, Leeds, Wolves and QPR/Bolton. Â Do you think you'll be able to hold onto Powell - with bigger jobs available at WBA, Wolves, possibly Blackburn and more likely to appear over the summer, he'd be a decent target for a top end Championship challenger possibly? Â As for the civic reception, glad to hear so many enjoyed it, these occasions happen far to infrequently in Sheffield for either club, so enjoy them while they last. canadablade   10 #104 Posted May 10, 2012 IT MIGHT have been a rainy evening in Sheffield city centre, but the party atmosphere had all the feel of a carnival in downtown Rio.:hihi: Obviously this writer has NEVER been to Rio :hihi:   Drums were banged, flags waved, the band played on - as thousands of Sheffield Wednesday fans chanted at the tops of their voices to celebrate the team’s promotion to the Championship.  Still riding high on last weekend’s victory over Wycombe Wanderers, 2,000-plus Owls fans turned out to salute their heroes outside the Town Hall last night.  Quick question that i think someone asked earl;ier but i didnt see the answer... Did the FA give you a trophy or did you decide to do your own one ?
 Share this content via...
