Backup files before reinstall

Recommended Posts

the easiest way is put the hard drive in an external caddy (or in a PC, if it's sata, it's a standard fitting)

obviously a machine with anti-virus.. and copy the files that way...

To clarify I cleared the rootkit virus and installed AntiVirus software. Now its saying a change has caused windows to not boot up! I've tried the advanced recovery options but an not too familiar with dos. Gosh, got your msg, hopefully I can find an answer to this as would not want to waste your time. It's prob quite easy. Appreciate it though.

can't you boot to safe mode??

assuming it's Windows 7, boot to safe-mode command prompt (if you can) and run migwiz.exe from command prompt..

i'm not sure if this works booting from the DVD and using the advanced recovery, but it's worth a try..
