Best supported team since 1945

I was told at a quiz that the best supported team since 1945 not to have won anything was SUFC, I did point out the 4th Div Champ but was still told no so it must be CUPS then. I have no real proof and they didnt provide any:huh:

I think it could be Newcastle!

 

edit: scrap that, they won the FA cup in 51,52 & 55 :blush:

Agreed, they'd probably averaged around 5,000 less per season that Newcastle.

 

Just had a quick look (yes I know I'm sad)

 

Uniteds biggest average in the 80s 16.584 (1980)

Newcastle's biggest average in the 80s 29.811 (1984)

 

Uniteds smallest average in the 80s 9.992 (1987)

Newcastle's smallest average in the 80s 16.001 (1981)

 

In all fairness, the 80s where lean times for the football supporter!

In all fairness, the 80s where lean times for the football supporter!

 

It's worth noting that Newcastle were in a higher division than us every year in the 80's too :)
