Woolworth Haymarket 1960s

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any memories good or bad of working there in the 60s early 70s. I left in 1971. I used to bake bread and make the Doughnuts just next to the front entrance. Thanks Penny.

I used to work there in the mid 60s, on Friday evenings, filling the shelves in the food court, (mainly pickles, sauces and spices) and all day Saturday (Summer only) when I supported the lower ground floor which was mainly hardware stuff; I kept the paint department stocked. It was a good experience, and I made a few bob while I was still at Sheffield City Grammar.

Worked next door at BHS 1968. Amazing how we used to sell almost the same things. Used to have to get there for 7.00 in the morning. Always late. Could drive down The Moore at 70MPH - speed cameras not invented.
