Ched Evans court trial.

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if Ched Evans is married and/or was married when the victim alleged this took place? And is he denying raping her by saying it was consentual, or is he denying sex actually took place?

I'm led to believe Ched was still with his girlfriend at the time.

Regards the consensual part, that will become clear as the trial progresses.

At the end of the day this is about a victim and there is one here no doubt.

Either a young woman raped or a young man falsely acccused ,its got nothing to do with football other than the morons on Bladesmad and Owlstalk who have turned it into a promotion in league 3 issue and trying to points score with each other

This city and its football fans make me sick to the bleeding stomach sometimes they really do

The Star are quoting the case has been stopped due to legal reasons!

well i never

This is a really common thing in court cases. It's likely that either someone has strayed into an area of evidence that the other thinks is not admissible or there is a dispute over whether a certain aspect of information/evidence should be mentioned in front of the jury because it's prejudicial.

Being stopped today doesn't mean that the case is not continuing, just that the discussions are being held away from the jury and court attendees.

There are more rare things, like a problem with a jury member or a witness not turning up and that sort of thing that can all cause similar things to happen, but basically it's a hold up, not the court case actually being stopped or dropped.

I agree with sheff66, while football obviously has it's part to play in this case (media coverage) and alwasy the possibility that people such as footballers can be seen as targets for such claims, club rivalry and footballing matters are and should be entirely seperate from such a serious court case. Hopefully the truth will out and the correct verdict will be made, either way.

Not actually relevant to this case but my views on rape 'charges' is that it always is 'miss x' claimes Fred Bloggs raped her

Why give her anonymity while name him

Either name them both or neither

If he is found guilty then suddenly as soon as the papers get involved its no longer 'miss x' but her real name

i totally agree , both should be named, it's to easy to blame and not be named, if there is mud to be thrown then both should take it.

It'd probably be better if neither were named until a verdict is given either way. It would dispel any myth that he's done/she's done this that and the other.

SHEFFIELD UNITED: Blades striker ‘raped teenage girl as his brother watched’

SHEFFIELD United ace Ched Evans and another footballer “procured” a drunk teenage girl and raped her as two of their friends watched and filmed, a court has heard.

The 23-year-old Blades striker, along with former Chesterfield FC player Clayton McDonald, also aged 23, deny the attack which allegedly took place at a Premier Inn near Rhyl, North Wales, during a bank holiday last May.

John Philpotts, prosecuting at Caernarfon Crown Court today, said Welsh international Evans, of Ashtree Gardens, Millhouse Green, Penistone, and Port Vale defender McDonald, of Marys Gate, Crewe, Cheshire, had admitted having sex with the complainant.

But he said the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was too drunk to consent to sexual intercourse.

Mr Philpotts said that while the attack happened Jack Higgins, an ‘associate’ of the footballers, and Ryan Roberts, Evans’s brother, had watched through a window.

Video recordings found on Mr Higgins’s phone showed he had been filming or trying to film the incident.

The trial continues.
