I think a lot of companies have adopted the approach that a Bank Holiday is not a holiday as such and you have to book it off if you want it off ... And in plenty of time too.

I see no reason why it should. Unless the intention is to cut the minimum legal requirement of 28 days' annual leave down to twenty, everyone will still have the same number of days off work to look forward to - but will not have the timing of those days off imposed from without by government.

 

Not everyone - those that currently have more than 20 days annual leave a year plus their bank holidays would have their total days cut.

I would be happy enough for them to scrap the Christmas and Easter holidays. That would bring an end to the idiots who hijack Christmas and Easter then complain loudly about people bringing religion into it!!!
