royjames   10 #1 Posted December 20, 2005 So now the new leader has decided to embrace all our diversity and multi cultural society and has told the party faithful to love and welcome our immigrants. Well this is going to be like god send to our party now he has finally taken the tory party to the middle ground or even to the left on such a important issue to many Tory voters. He will make those thought they could trust the Tory Party on this issue move over to us as they see how Cameron has showed himself up for the liberal he really is. He is going to alienate many Tory voters and long may he continue to do so,he is the best thing to happen to my party in years. banesmabes   10 #2 Posted December 20, 2005 Maybe he has decided to move the party away from it's hard line on immigrants because it simply was not winning them a significant number of votes? Yes, a few right-wingers might not be pleased, but most people in this country are middle of the road and so will be attracted to the Tories by their more realistic line on this (and other issues Cameron has raised since becoming leader). He is only trying to do for the Tories what Blair did for Labour - realising that extreme policies do not equal election victories. Alienating a small number of party extremists will not hurt if the new policies attract large numers of voters disenchanted with the Labour party.  Extreme parties like the BNP will (thankfully) only ever appeal to a minority of people in this day and age. royjames   10 #3 Posted December 20, 2005 Oh come on now ,we did get nearly a million votes in the euro elections, hardly irrelevant. Anyway I hope those tory voters who think he has gone soft will come over to us. Look at this to decide for yourself.  http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4539138.stm
 Share this content via...

angle20 Â Â 10 #8 Posted December 21, 2005 The Tories have reached the logical conclusion of the journey they embarked on when Ted Heath sacked Enoch Powell. It does leave some clear blue water for a party such as the BNP to move into.
 Share this content via...

People will vote for a party around their own thoughts.... just like you do about your own. You are obviously biggoted and want to create hate. I agree immigration is an issue but it is not a weapon for hate. This divides us just like people like you. Look elswhere for your answers.
