Description

 

This is a lovely 7.5 mile walk, taking us us roughly 4 hours. it starts in South Anston by the church, before taking us for a short while alongside the canal to Thorpe Salvin, through Hawks Wood, and across Lindrick Common golf course, before makingo ur way back through Anston Stones Wood to the church at South Anton. The terrain will be underlating hills and mostly well used paths and tracks, we will be walking in woodland as well as a little bit of road walking.

Start time: 10:40am

 

Meeting point: St James Church, Sheffield Road, South Anston, Rotherham, S25 5DU

 

Refreshments: Pubs in South Anston and Thorpe Salvin

 

Parking: Roadside parking by the church

 

Public Transport: Bus X5 leaves Sheffield Interchange at 08:35am getting to Sheffield Road South Anston at 09.11am leaving a fair bit of time to kill before the walk. Retrun buses are 15:37pm and 16:37pm.

 

Therefore if anyone is able to offer lifts it would be greatly appreciated, please say in your posts if your able to do so.

Anyone who is able to offer lifts, could they put this in their post, passengers please note that the driver may wish to join the rest of the group for a drink after the walk, so please have this mind thanks

 

Importamt:

 

Anyone joining the walk should be of a level of fitness relative to the walk being undertaken, be appropriately dressed, have suitable footwear, and have with them enough food and drink for the duration of the walk...

A lovely walk today in the sunshine. Fantastic weather for mArch. It was nice to see a coulpe of old firend again for the first time in a while and to welcome our latest new walker. The scenery and views on route were beautiful, and had to be seen to be belieived in places. A top day all round.
