Anyone got any frog spawn yet?

Recommended Posts

There is more in our pond now than we have ever had.

It's going to cost a small fortune in daphnia because we always feed them.

If you are referring to the pond in Hillsborough park, didn't that get cleaned out some time ago? Wonder if that removed a lot of the frog spawn.

I've a newt in the pond :-)

And I had tadpoles last year.

This year the newt's going to eat them!

Granma.

Wherever they are, unless there is enough food for them to eat, the big ones, first to get 4 legs, will turn cannibal and eat the little ones.

they also do grow at different rates - especially in small ponds - that stops them all hatching out at once and competing for the same food

I have just been to Frecheville pond with the children to look for tadpoles/frogs, however there was absolutely none. We wanted to catch some for a new school pond so left very disappointed.

Is it me or should there have been 1000's this time of year?? Or is it just that Frecheville pond is to polluted for them now?
