tzijlstra   11 #661 Posted February 14, 2013 The city I am from in the Netherlands had a few interesting projects, one was working with the local colleges and letting students set up their own shops in empty premises for free, helping them with business-plans, acquiring start-up funds, providing tax-relief during the first year etc. Although this is some time ago, and I don't know how it is now, it certainly resulted in the opening of a range of interesting new places throughout the city, from US-style bagel shops to vintage clothing shops before they were trendy.
