Because you'd watch a whole bunch of large international businesses leave, and then ban them from trading here, creating basically a protectionist economy.

There would be political repercussions with UK firms being banned from trading in the home countries of the companies you just chased away, there would be gaps in the market which were simply unable to fill locally, there would be a massive loss in tax revenue and in competitive ability on an economic level and subsequently the economy would collapse and the pound would become worthless.
