IanG Â Â 10 #1 Posted March 18, 2012 I am looking for some ideas for a nice chilled day out tomorrow with my other half, somewhere reasonably close by (bus or train journey) maybe peaks like castleton etc, want somewhere we can go for a nice short walk reasonably flat ie no massive hills to hike up, nice scenery and a couple of cosy pubs for a meal and few drinks, also possibly stay over the night if we can find somewhere cheap enough. Â cheers
 Share this content via...
chardanski   10 #2 Posted March 18, 2012 (edited) My wife and i don't drive, so an easy way out into the Peak District is to catch the 51 bus to its terminus at Lodge moor. Then walk along Redmires road past the Dams and onto Stanage Edge, down into Hathersage. Its about 5 miles mostly flat untill Stanage Edge then all down hill passing the Bronte Cottage (where Charlotte Bronte did some of her writing) to Hathersage, where there are a couple of nice pubs that do food. Then its either the bus (sorry not sure of the number we usually look at the bus stop as we get into Hathersage) or the train back to Sheff .
